Loneliness

Writer: Richard RevelstokeRichard Revelstoke

We all experience a sense of isolation and the accompanying feeling of loneliness at various times in our lives. For many, this feeling of loneliness is devastating and crushes the spirit until life becomes almost unbearable.

We may feel forsaken or abandoned or even forgotten by our friends and families, and even by our God. It is no wonder the Psalmist said “Why so downcast O my soul? Why are you so downcast within me?”

The good news is you are not really alone. The universe is on your side and all of creation is for you not against you. The Spirit of God lives within you and goes through all of life experiencing everything you experience.

You are surrounded by ministering angels at all times who have your best interests at heart. The relationship that you have with God the Father means that you are part of a great divine family that extends from here on earth to eternity.

Being part of this family means we are joining in the family business - the plan for all of humanity to know God and be like him. We have become citizens of a brand new universe. Our universe. My Father in heaven, my brothers and sisters, my universe.

When we get with God’s program instead of our own program the loneliness is greatly lessened and the sense of isolation turns to a sense of awe at the majesty and sheer size of the universe. The carpenter from Nazareth taught that if we lose our life for his sake we will find it. Forgetting about ourselves is the way to find our true life in the spirit and the cure for loneliness. ☀️🌺🌎

“The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved.” ― Mother Teresa
