Superman

Writer: Richard RevelstokeRichard Revelstoke

Joshua ben Joseph was and is the quintessential religious superhero. He made altruism heroic and turned upside down the world’s ideas of what a religious person is supposed to be. Before Joshua came religion was in the hands of awkward priests whose main role was performing rituals and memorizing scripture.

Joshua was a mild-mannered carpenter by day and then emerged as an all powerful creator who condescended to interact and mingle with the masses of working class people. He wasn’t the rich man’s boy though he left the door wide open for rich and poor and showed no favoritism to any.

Joshua ben Joseph is the anchor of time. All of our history is divided between before he came and after his death. Our modern notions of civil rights and freedoms of speech and worship are rooted in the religion of equality that Joshua presented to the world.

All you Clark Kents who slip into the phone booth of prayer and don your Superman suit made with the fabric of love for your brothers and sisters are the real superheroes of this new age of peace and brotherhood that is dawning on the Earth. As you soar across the spiritual sky to rescue the downcast and poor lost souls remember the words of the humble Superman:

“Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest for your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We will have Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All. 🌎✌️❤️🙏🏻😇
